Description	:	Dorothy L. Golden, 88, long-time resident of Arthur County, died Jan. 18, 2006, at Great Plains Regional Medical Center in North Platte, after a lingering illness. She was born Jan. 25, 1917, in Chester to Pearl A. and Minnie George Curry. The family moved to the Sandhills in Nebraska in 1919. She attended schools in rural Grant and Garden counties and graduated from Garden County High School in 1934. She was born Jan. 25, 1917, in Chester to Pearl A. and Minnie George Curry. The family moved to the Sandhills in Nebraska in 1919. She attended schools in rural Grant and Garden counties and graduated from Garden County High School in 1934. She attended Chadron State Teacher's College and subsequently taught grade schools in Garden and Arthur counties. On Dec. 5, 1942, Dorothy married Russell R. Golden in Hyannis. They made their home on the family ranch near Arthur. To this union two sons were born, Richard L. "Dick" Golden on Jan. 16, 1948, and Ronald D. Golden on Jan. 22, 1949. In 2003, Mrs. Golden moved to North Platte due to health problems, but her heart remained in Arthur County. She was a long-time member of the Arthur Baptist Church and was active in local groups including the Glenrose Extension Club. She loved to garden and cook and entertain family and friends. Survivors include a son, Ron (Anne) Golden of Middletown, Md.; a granddaughter, Laura Golden of Charlottesville, Va.; a sister, Bernetha Groves, a sister-in-law, Eunice Curry and a brother-in-law Clay Powers, all of Oshkosh; a sister-in-law, Geneva Lance of Lewellen; and a host of relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; her stepmother, Ruth Curry; her husband, Russell; her son, Dick; her sister, Nadine Powers; and her brother, Elwyn "Pete" Curry.
