Read More	Andover, Ohio - Dorothy L. Davis, age 92, died March 26, 2019, with family at her side in Cleveland, Ohio. She was born February 13, 1927, in Andover, Ohio, to Alice E. (Owens) and Frederick J. Hartley, Sr. She graduated in 1945 from Williamsfield High School and worked in the Rexall Drug store in Kinsman. Dorothy and her childhood friend, Clair, married in 1945, and moved to their family farm, Davishire. She was a member of the Williamsfield Methodist Church from early childhood, and taught Sunday School, sang in the choir and trios, and played piano until moving to Andover, where she joined the Andover First Baptist Church. Dorothy touched the lives of many through her work as an educator. She earned her Master's of Science in Education, plus certifications for Elementary Supervisor and Principal, in 1973. After one year as a Chapter 1 director, she found her true love of teaching children and adults far outweighed her desire for administration work, and she went on to teach for 38 years, including the 7th grade in Windsor, 1st grade at Hartford, 5th grade at Williamsfield, 1st & 3rd grades at Cortland, Chapter 1 Reading & 4th grade Music in Williamsfield & Andover, and over 20 years in kindergarten. Her hobbies included reading, studying, gardening, visiting with friends and aquatic exercise. Dorothy enjoyed the splendor of our country through family trips across the United States. She also traveled internationally. She visited family friends who farmed in England and used what she learned to write an article and give a speech for a college class comparing farming equipment and techniques used in the US and England. She and Clair also visited Germany during the Salzburg Music Festival with their eldest daughter and her husband, who was an Army doctor. She is preceded in death by her husband, H. Clair Davis, a brother, Thomas Hartley, a sister, Ruth Wason, her parents and grandparents. Survivors include her children, Jeffrey C. Davis (Janelle) of Geneva, Regran (Dr. Marvin) Leedy of Akron, Dr. Heather (Dr. Angelo, deceased) Petrolla of Youngstown, Amanda (Gary) Sebrosky of Cleveland; 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; 5 step grandchildren; 10 step great-grandchildren; one step great great-grandchild; 3 great great-grandchildren and her youngest sister, Emily Walker of Florida. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 4, 2019 at 2:00 PM at Baumgardner Funeral & Cremation Service, 134 Prospect Street, Andover, Ohio. A private burial of cremated remains will take place in Williamsfield Center Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Pantry at the Andover Methodist Church, 181 S.
