Read More	Dorothy Leona DeBour Nicholson MASON CITY — Dorothy Leona Nicholson, 89, Mason City, died Monday, Jan. 3, 2011, at the Lutheran Retirement Home in Northwood. A memorial service for Dorothy will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 7, 2011, at the Hogan-Bremer-Moore Colonial Chapel, 126 Third Street N.E., Mason City. Dorothy Leona Nicholson was born on Nov. 23, 1921, in South Dakota, the daughter of George and Alice (Kelsey) DeBour. She was united in marriage to Lester Nicholson, and to this union one child was born, Michael R. Nicholson. Dorothy worked at University of Iowa Medical Center in Iowa City as a housekeeper, and at Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa in Mason City in the laundry department at the time of her retirement. Dorothy lived in Plymouth until moving to Good Shepherd Health Center in Mason City before moving to the Lutheran Retirement Home in Northwood to be closer to her family. Dorothy had a quick sense of humor, and a wonderful smile for family and friends. Dorothy loved to tell people she was 39 and holding, just like Jack Benny. Those left to cherish her memory are her grandchildren, Terry (Cindy) Bass of Northwood, Lyneen McLaughlin, Mike Nicholson, and Ashley Nicholson; great-grandchildren, Craig and Blake Bass of Northwood, Leslie Arndt, and Max McLaughlin of Grafton; sister-in-law, Gladys Bessman of Mason City; a special niece, Kay Bessman of Mason City; as well as other special nieces and nephews; and special neighbors, Ric and Jean Vermedal of Plymouth; and other extended family members and friends. Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband Lester Nicholson in 1985; son, Michael Nicholson on July 3, 1991; daughter-in-law, Marcine Coburn; and a grandson, Scott Bass.
