Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Nov. 21, in the Memorial Park Cemetery. Mrs. Council, widow of James Roger Council was born in Pomaria, on Nov. 10, 1905, a daughter of the late Georgia Mae and James Louis Long. Her family moved to Darlington. She was an avid golfer,... Read More	Dorothy L. Council - Orangeburg Mrs. Dorothy Long Council, 102, died Monday, Nov. 19, 2007, at The Oaks in Orangeburg. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Nov. 21, in the Memorial Park Cemetery. Mrs. Council, widow of James Roger Council was born in Pomaria, on Nov. 10, 1905, a daughter of the late Georgia Mae and James Louis Long. Her family moved to Darlington. In 1922, she came to the Cordova Community and taught school at Poplar Springs. She was a charter member of Trinity Presbyterian Church and a devoted member of First Presbyterian Church. She was an avid golfer, bridge player and long time member of the Dogwood Garden Club. She is predeceased by husbands Thomas Way and J. Roger Council, a son, Thomas Zeigler Way and eight siblings. She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, James and Brenda Council of Orangeburg; a daughter-in-law, Virginia Downing Way of Greenville; grandchildren, Charles Way, of Greenville, Gayle Dollar of Myrtle Beach, Tammy Sheppard of Aledo, Texas, Elizabeth Roach of Greenville, and Roger Council of Charlotte, N.C.; six great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. The family would like to thank the wonderful caretakers who provided their special service to her in her latter years. They will serve as the pallbearers.
