She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawson "Tait" Cummins in 1984, a brother Charles Ireland. Dotty was born Sept 30, 1924 in Anamosa, the daughter of Charles and Cynthia Ireland. She married "Tait" Cummins on Aug 12, 1951 in Decorah. She had been employed by The Cedar Rapids Gazette as assistant sport editor, WMT radio and television and assisted Tait with sports. She was a member of St Paul's United Methodist Church, a past president and among the first members of the Board of Directors of Camp Courageous of Iowa. Past president of Linn County ARC, member of DAR andserved on many committees and boards. Dotty was a dedicated and loving mother to her son Charlie and a dear friend to everyone she came into contact with, especially a new parents of a disabled child. (from obit)
