Description	:	Lucille was educated in Goldendale. After graduating high school, she spent time in Portland Oregon during World War II working in the shipyard on naval vessels (she spoke of dangling outside their hulls with the Columbia river rushing below her) and on the tail sections of PBY aircraft. She later returned to Goldendale and worked at her fathers lumberyard before meeting her husband, Byron Groves. They were married June 1, 1949. They made their first home in Spokane were there 4 children were born. In 1957 the family moved to Beaverton Oregon where Byron worked as a baker and Lucille took care of the home. She lived there continuously until her recent passing. Lucille cared for and loved her children dearly. They were a great source of pride to her. she was a passionate gardener, wonderful baker (cookies were her forte ) avidly interested in politics and the future of our country, and a great conveyor of stories of Goldendale and her past. she was known to say jealousy and envy were the cause of all the worlds problems. She is survived by her children sons Barry, Gary, Jere and daughter Vicki Truitt. Two grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and extended family. She was preceded in death by her husband Byron. She will be missed, but will be remembered for her favorite sayings “ think happy” Information from Gardner funeral home obituaries .
