Dorothy was born on March 5, 1920 in Minden, Nebraska to Howard and Grace (Sorensen) Tarkington. Dorothy grew up and attended school in Minden, Nebraska. In June of 1940 she married Walter Lund. Their family included daughter, Julie, son, John and daughter, Susan Jane Lund, who died at birth. During the war years, they lived in Hastings, Nebraska, Sterling, Colorado, Ithaca, Nebraska and Mead, Nebraska, returning to Minden, Nebraska in 1952. Following the sudden death of her husband Walter Lund in 1968, she continued to live and work in Minden, Nebraska, owning and operating a beauty shop and bookkeeping at the Chevrolet dealership in Minden, Nebraska. In 1975 she married Harry Weaver and they made their home in Sterling, Colorado until Harry's death in 1995. Shortly thereafter she moved back to Minden, Nebraska. In 2009 she moved to Primrose, Grand Island, Nebraska. As her health declined, she lived at Bickford Cottage, Grand Island, Nebraska and finally at Hamilton Manor, Aurora, Nebraska where she died peacefully. Survivors are: daughter, Julie Kuhlman and husband, Don of Grand Island, Nebraska; son, John Lund of Ogallala, Nebraska; four grandchildren and seven great grandchildren; Jane Lemburg and husband, Micky of Cairo, Nebraska, Peggy Staab and husband, Lonnie and their children, Kory, Calli and Cole of Kearney, Nebraska, Coby Lund and wife, Janet and their children, Cooper and Hadley of Atlanta, Georgia, Jason Lund and wife, Erin and their children Reese and Bennett of Denver, Colorado and a host of family and friends. Dorothy is preceded in death by: two husbands; daughter in-law, Linda Lund; infant daughter, Susan Jane Lund and infant brother, Eugene Tarkington who died at birth. Burial was in Minden Cemetery, Minden, Nebraska.
