Dorothy was born May 14, 1918, the daughter of Charles and Jennie (Hannah) Ward at Marshalltown, Iowa. She graduated valedictorian of the Albion Consolidated School. She attended Marshalltown Business College and worked as a secretary at Marshall Canning Company. On May 29, 1946, she married Ralph Smith and moved to the Colo area where they farmed. She enjoyed quilting, reading, playing cards, following ISU and spending the winters in Texas at Mobile Gardens. Dorothy is survived by her four children: Thomas (Marsha) Smith of Clive, Virginia (John) Tietz of Lakewood, CO, Dona (Ken) Cowman of Cambridge and Patricia Anderson of Nevada; three grandchildren, Terri (Erik) Bradshaw, Scott Anderson, and Robert Anderson; a great-grandson, Logan Bradshaw; her brother, Bill Ward of Nevada; and her sister, Jean Hurlbut of Garwin. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph in 1988; her sisters, Ruth Ward (in infancy) and Lois Damman; and her twin brother, Donald.
