Born in Wabash, she was a nursing home administrator, retiring in 1996. She most recently worked at the Camelot Children's Care center in Logansport and had also worked as administrator of the Tioga Pines Nursing Home in Monticello. After retirement, she worked at J and K Aquariums & Pets in Wabash. She held offices in the American College of Healthcare Administrators, serving as president from 1987 to 1989. She also served on the board of director of the Cass & Newton counties child abuse and United Way organizations, the Handicapped Boy Scouts of America and the Indiana Executive Conference Committee of the Seventh Day Adventists. She was preceded in death by her husband, Merlin L., in 1977 and a daughter, Patricia Ann Huston. Surviving are three daughters, Nancy Axelson and Karen Childers, both of Wabash, and Christina Williams of Flora; a sister, Amy Huston of Delphi; two brothers, Richard Haines of Garden Grove, Calif., and Lawrence Haines of Paramount, Calif.; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Services at 2 p.m. Sunday at Grandstaff-Hentgen Manchester Ave. Chapel, Wabash, with calling from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday. Burial in Falls Cemetery, Wabash. Memorials to Wabash County Cancer Society or to National Kidney Foundation.
