Read More	Dorothy Mae Ricenbaw was born on June 18, 1918 on a farm near Beaver Crossing, Nebraska to Hugh and Goldie (Gentry) McCracken, the 3rd of eight children and passed away on Friday, March 4, 2011 at Tabitha Nursing Home in Lincoln, Nebraska at the age of 92 years 8 months and 14 days. As a young girl she attended country school east of Beaver Crossing and graduated from Beaver Crossing High School with the class of 1936. She furthered her education by attending nursing school at Methodist Hospital in Omaha. She was united in marriage to James C. Ricenbaw on May 17, 1938 in Plattsmouth and to this union six children, Marilyn, Dianne, Janet, Sharon, Norman and John were born. Together Dorothy and Jim began their married life near Beaver Crossing and in 1945 moved to a farm near Cordova. Dorothy was a busy homemaker and mother, working hard to raise her children without the modern day conveniences of electricity and running water. In 1963 they moved into their new home in Cordova where she spent many hours in her kitchen canning the bounty of vegetables raised by Jim. Dorothy always had a pie ready for company. Jim and Dorothy spent many winters in Mesa, AZ and enjoyed traveling throughout the US and Europe. In her spare time she was an avid reader and also enjoyed working crossword puzzles. As she raised her children, she never refused to babysit her grandchildren. Dorothy had a special love for children, whether they were her own family, or not. Dorothy was always a "classy" lady and enjoyed dressing for every activity. Her appearance was important to her and she took care to make sure she was ready for all events. Dorothy later moved to Lincoln and lived at the Legacy until declining health necessitated her recent move to Tabitha. Dorothy was a member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, and WELCA, Cordova, and was always ready to help with any church activity. Dorothy was also a member of the coffee klatch group in Cordova. She belonged to the Red Hats while living at the Legacy in Lincoln. She always made popcorn balls for Halloween, a special treat along with hot chocolate for her grandchildren after they had been out trick or treating. She was well known for her potato salad. Dorothy is survived by her children and spouses, Marilyn and Wes Eberspacher, Exeter, Dianne and John Clifford, Hastings, Janet and Joel Pospisil, Friend, Sharon Hackbart, Augusta, GA, Norman "Fred" and Patricia Ricenbaw, John and Kathy Ricenbaw, all of Friend, 22 grandchildren, 46 great-grandchildren, 10 great-great grandchildren, brother and sister-in-law, George and Margaret McCracken, Rising City, sister, Ruth Robinson, York, sisters-in-law, Florence Amos, Seward, Berdene Heckman, Kearney, Doris McCracken, Seward, and a host of relatives and friends. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Jim in 1996, two grandsons, Douglas Alan Schernikau, and Scott Lee Schernikau, great-grandson, Mark Rodney Crawford, brothers, Arthur and Donald McCracken, sisters, Wilma Weber, Norma Ricenbaw, Lorraine Hansen, son-in-law, Ronald Crawford, several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law. Interment was in Zastrow Cemetery, Cordova, NE.
