Saturday, April 3, 2010 at Zion Lutheran Church, Oelwein, Iowa with Rev. Leo Combs-Lay officiating. Visitation: 4:00 to 8:00 P.M. on Friday at the Jamison-Schmitz Funeral Home, Oelwein and for one hour before the service at the church on Saturday. Dorothy's family moved to Randalia where she received her education. Dorothy was united in marriage to Charles Raymond Rechkemmer on September 12, 1943 at San Diego, California. Dorothy was a homemaker and longtime farming partner. The family farmed near Stanley and then in 1955 they moved to a farm near Maynard. Dorothy and Charlie moved to Oelwein in 1974. Dorothy later moved to Oelwein Care Center in June of 2009. Dorothy was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Oelwein. Her joys in life were her grandchildren, gardening, gambling and baking. Dorothy is survived by her Son: Dennis (Judy) Rechkemmer of Coggon; Son: Ron (Doris) Rechkemmer of Maynard; Daughter: Sheryl Cue of Fayette; 12 Grandchildren & Several Great Grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband: Charles on May 24, 1988, son: Herbert, brother: Robert Schmidt and 2 sisters: Viola Webb and Gertie Trost.
