Read More	Dorothy Margaret Huset, born on Valentine's Day, 1923, in Crosby, North Dakota, died on February 4, 2011, at the home of her daughter in Grand Forks, ND. Dorothy was the youngest child of Gladys Hurt, originally from Park River, ND, and Ben Huset, originally from Hatton, ND. After graduating from Crosby High School in 1941, she attended North Dakota Agricultural College (now NDSU) where she met her husband, John Albert Friese of Fargo, ND. His work as a civil engineer for the Babcock and Wilcox Company led the family to live in multiple cities in each of the following states: Minnesota, Indiana, Iowa, Wisconsin, Nebraska and Illinois. They eventually settled in Wadsworth, Ohio, where she lived for over 50 years. Dorothy graduated from Kent State University, Kent, Ohio, and taught grade school until her retirement. She was a Girl Scout leader and an avid golfer and bowler. At Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church in Wadsworth, she was a Sunday School and Vacation Bible School teacher. She was a tailor, an oil painter, a wood carver, and stained-glass artist. As a child, she was known as the protector of small animals; as an adult, she often stopped to take injured animals from the side of the road to the vet at her expense. She transformed a yard that was bare plot of ground into the Garden of Eden, the showplace of the neighborhood. Modest in her wants and needs, she valued family and friends above all else. Her keen sense of justice, fairness and loyalty accompanied her no-nonsense, practical and courageous outlook on life. She rejected all pretense and grew sweeter with each passing day. Inheriting the passion of her father, Ben Huset (a well-known regional climatologist), she was fascinated by clouds, and until the very end, country rides to see the sky, remained a primary source of joy for her. Six years after the death of her husband, John, Dorothy married Wesley E. Perry Lee of Wadsworth, Ohio. When he passed away in May, 2004, she moved back to "God's Country" - North Dakota. Dorothy was preceded in death by her paternal grandfather, Ole Huset who was born in Hedalen, Valdres, Oppland, Norway, her paternal grandmother, Oline Hannestad Huset, born in Ness, Hedmark, Norway, her maternal grandfather, Frank Hurt, born in Ontario, Canada, and maternal grandmother, Elynor Parsonage Hurt, born in London, England, her mother Gladys (1977), her father Ben (1963), her brother Oliver of Williston (2004), her sister Effie Ellsworth of Seattle (2006), her husband John Friese (1985) and her second husband Perry Lee (2004) and her former son-in-law, Gene Jaramillo Gene Jaramillo (1986) of New Mexico. Her husband's siblings, George Friese , Barberton, Ohio, Helen Friese Jondahl , Portland, Oregon, Charles Friese , Fargo, ND all preceded her in death. She leaves behind three daughters - Sally, Nancy and Laurie. Sally Friese Hoffman of Grand Forks, ND and Los Alamos, New Mexico; Laurie Friese Crummy (wife of Charles) of Grand Forks, ND, Nancy Friese (wife of Wes Goforth) of Cranston, Rhode Island, and Buxton, ND and former son-in-law, Dr. Nelson M. Hoffman of Los Alamos, New Mexico. Also left are the following five grandchildren: Miguel Johann Hoffman of Los Alamos, NM; Sarah Hoffman of State College, Pennsylvania; Matthew Crummy (husband of Allie) and their daughter Charlotte of Des Moines, Iowa; Rachel Crummy Jungling (wife of Ryne) of Bismarck, ND; Laura Goforth of Cranston, RI. Additionally, she leaves brothers-in-law Harold Friese of Tacoma, WA and Grand Forks, ND, and Robert G. Friese (husband of Pam) of Port Saint Lucie, Florida. Also surviving are the following nieces and nephews and their families: Bentaro Huset of Minneapolis, Marilyn Ellsworth Potts of Seattle, Janesse Ellsworth Walker of Auburn WA and Karen Ellsworth Fletcher of Mineral, WA. Bill Lee and Linda Lee Wagner, the children of her second husband, also survive, both in Georgia. In lieu sending flowers to the family, it was Dorothy's wish that friends please enjoy a lovely dinner in her memory. However, any monetary contributions that are received (unless otherwise designated) will be directed to the Crosby Kulas Park Beautification Project for purchase of trees, benches, or flowers (in her name) near the new water wall.
