Visitations will be after 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 18, 2008 at the Carlsen Funeral Home in Le Mars with the family present to greet friends after 5:00 p.m. followed by a 7:00 p.m. Prayer Service. Pallbearers will be Matt Borchers, Scott Borchers, Mark Ullrich, Aaron Ullrich, Josh Rembe, Michael Parkinson, David Parkinson, and Lloyd Borchers. Dorothy Marie Jahn was born April 13, 1920 on the family farm in Sherman Township, rural Sioux County, Iowa to Fred Jr. and Martha (VanderHamm) Jahn. She was baptized and confirmed at St. John Lutheran Church, Reading Township, rural Ireton, Iowa. She attended school at Maurice, Iowa and graduated from Maurice High School. Dorothy was united in marriage to William H. "Bill" Borchers on November 7, 1940 at St. John Lutheran Church, rural Ireton, Iowa. Dorothy and Bill farmed in Preston Township until their retirement in the early 1980's. They continued to live on the family farm during retirement. Bill passed away on February 23, 1990. In 1995, Dorothy moved to Akron and later moved to Park Village Court in April of 2007. She moved into Park Place Estates in September of 2008. Dorothy was a longtime member of St. John Lutheran Church in Craig. She enjoyed participating in the Ladies Guild, Martha Circle, church quilting, and was very instrumental in establishing and publishing the church newsletter, the "Behold". Dorothy was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She enjoyed organizing and hosting family gatherings. She was always a very gracious host to family and friends. Dorothy enjoyed tending to her vegetable and flower gardens. Survivors include her 4 children: Dennis Borchers of Brunsville, Glenda Ullrich and her husband Bert of Sgt. Bluff, Iowa, Carol Rembe of Sgt. Bluff, Iowa, and Mary Parkinson and her husband Craig of Akron; 11 grandchildren: Matt (Heidi) Borchers, Scott (Hannah) Borchers, Mark Ullrich, Aaron Ullrich, Joshua (Angela) Rembe, Jennifer Rembe, Jodi Rembe, Michael Parkinson, Andrea Parkinson, David Parkinson, and Sarah Parkinson; 5 great grandchildren; 2 sisters, Helen Jasper of Hawarden, Iowa and Lucille Rockwood and her husband of Omaha, Nebraska; and several nieces and nephews. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, Fred Jr. and Martha (VanderHamm) Jahn; her husband, William H. Borchers on February 20, 1990; a brother Harold Jahn.
