Dorothy died October 30, 2019 at her home. Dorothy Marie Steinwand was born November 18, 1931 to Alexander and Martha (Maier) Steinwand at Merricourt, ND. She was baptized on December 27, 1931 in Merricourt by Pastor J. Schmitt and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church at Ellendale on March 25, 1945 by Pastor E.M.F. Jording. She attended school in Ellendale, graduating from Ellendale High School with the class of 1949. She then attended State Normal Industrial College and taught in Albion Township. Dorothy was united in marriage to Roger Bobbe on November 23, 1950 at Zion Lutheran Church in Ellendale. They farmed in Albion Township and in 1998, they moved to Ellendale, but continued to care for the land. Dorothy worked for several years at Golden Rule Rest Home, Prince of Peace Care Center and lastly was a cook at Trinity Bible College. Grateful for having shared Dorothy's life are her husband, Roger; son, Mark (Patricia) Bobbe of Forbes, ND; daughters, Ellen Harrison of Ellendale, Mary Hoots of Zeeland, ND and Amy Sand of Ellendale; daughter-in-law, Kathy (Scott) Wilde of Kimberly, MO; 15 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Lindy Ray of Big Sandy, MT; and sisters-in-law, Marabelle Bobbe of Forbes, Millie Steinwand of Boulder, CO, Orpha Steinwand of Bismarck, ND and Barbara Steinwand of Ellendale. Dorothy is preceded in death by her parents, son, Ross and three brothers, Martin, Walter and Victor Steinwand. Carlsen Funeral Home of Ellendale has been entrusted with arrangements.
