Dorothy was born March 8, 1929, in York County, Neb., to Martin Frederick and Sophie Christine (Zwiebel) Wiemer. She married Norman Edward Blum on Feb. 27, 1949, at her parents' home in Waco, Neb. They were blessed with two children, Verlin and Judy. They farmed in Benedict, Neb., until 1956, when Norman went to work for Frontier Airlines in Colorado. Read More	Dorothy Marie Blum, 84, of Clarkston, passed away Tuesday, July 16, 2013, at Life Care Center in Lewiston. Dorothy was born March 8, 1929, in York County, Neb., to Martin Frederick and Sophie Christine (Zwiebel) Wiemer. She married Norman Edward Blum on Feb. 27, 1949, at her parents' home in Waco, Neb. They were blessed with two children, Verlin and Judy. They farmed in Benedict, Neb., until 1956, when Norman went to work for Frontier Airlines in Colorado. During his employment with Frontier, the family lived in various locations in the Midwest until his retirement in 1987 to Wheatland, Wyo. Dorothy was a dedicated wife and mother and worked at various part-time jobs, including nurse's aide, rental car agent and baker's assistant. Upon retirement, her baking experience was used at home to bake cookies, cinnamon rolls and decorative cakes, soon earning her the title of Wheatland's cookie lady. In September 2005, due to increasing health problems, Dorothy and her husband moved to Clarkston to be closer to their children. Norman passed away from heart failure in 2006. Throughout her life she was an active member of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod. She belonged to Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Lewiston, where she participated in the Altar Guild. Serving the Lord was a joy in her life. She is survived by her son, Verlin and his wife Dianne of Lewiston; her daughter, Judy Chalison and her husband Dr. John Chalison of La Canada, Calif.; granddaughter Laura Blum of Spokane; grandson David Chalison of Marina del Rey, Calif.; brother Arlin of York, Neb.; and many nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death were her husband, her parents, sister Evelyn Haack and brother Harold Wiemer.
