Description	:	Dorothy Maxine Littlejohn Kendall, 96, formerly of 2042 Great Oak Dr., died at 2:55 am May 2, 2011, at The Good Smaritan Society-Ottumwa. She was born Feb. 23, 1915, in Oskaloosa to Melvil B. and Iona Garrett Littlejohn. She married Paul L. Kendall Sept. 2, 1935, in Kirksville, Mo. He preceded her in death June 25, 1997. She was born Feb. 23, 1915, in Oskaloosa to Melvil B. and Iona Garrett Littlejohn. She married Paul L. Kendall Sept. 2, 1935, in Kirksville, Mo. He preceded her in death June 25, 1997. A resident of Ottumwa since 1925, she was a 1932 graduate of Ottumwa High School. She had been employed by Niemeyer Paper Co., W.T.Grant and retired from Northwestern Bell Telephone Co. in 1970 after 26-and-a-half years of service. Dorothy is a member of Davis St. Christian Church and had been a member of Telephone Pioneers of America since 1964. She was a volunteer at River Hills, Ottumwa Manor, Vista Woods, Ridgewood and Good Samaritan care centers with the Sonshine Gospel Group since 1980. She had spent countless hours volunteering at The Good Smaritan Society-Ottumwa an always greeted everyone with a hug. Surviving are her brother, William(Martha)Littlejohn of Decorah; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by three sisters, Alma Langford, Inez Tomlin and Berniece Doty; and a brother Lawrence Littlejohn. Funeral srvices will be 1:30 pm Wednesday at Reece Funeral Home with Rev. Brian Gentz officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery. Visitation will be open at 1 pm Tuesday. The family will be present one hour prior to the service on Wednesday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Davis St. Christian Church or The Good Smaritan Society-Ottumwa.
