She married Jay Benningfield of McAllister, California on May 28, 1947 in Yakima at the Mead Ave. Full Gospel Tabernacle. They were happily married for 67 years. Read More	Dorothy May (Bentz) Benningfield, 84, of Yakima, Washington, passed away November 14, 2014 peacefully in her sleep. Dorothy was born in Weldona, Colorado on February 2, 1930. She married Jay Benningfield of McAllister, California on May 28, 1947 in Yakima at the Mead Ave. Full Gospel Tabernacle. They were happily married for 67 years. Dorothy was strong in her faith and shared it with her husband. They served together for over 20 years in the prison ministry. She was a home maker, a devoted wife and mother. She loved gardening, especially her roses. Dorothy was soft spoken with a quiet strength that came from within and always had a word of encouragement to share. Dorothy is survived by her husband Jay G. Benningfield, four of her children, Stephen Benningfield and wife Judy, Marlene McGinnis and husband Patrick, Elaine Cummins and husband Bob, and Edward Benningfield, a brother, Victor Bentz of Spokane, WA and a sister, Esther Lanning and husband Bill of Tumwater, WA; also 12 grandchildren, and 18 great grandchildren. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents Edward Bentz of Yakima, WA and Mabel Gaub James of Vancouver, WA, as well as two sisters, Janie Bentz and Eleanor McCaulley, and her son Stanley Benningfield. The family would like to especially thank Heartlinks Hospice and Palliative Care for all their help and encouragement over the last several months. A memorial service will be held at 1 pm at the Union Gap Assembly of God Church in Union Gap, Washington on Saturday, November 22, 2014. She will be laid to rest in the Terrace Heights Memorial Park.
