She was born in Newburg, W.Va., on 2 July 1924, and was the only daughter of the late Harold D. Miller and Blanche (Sapp) Miller. She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Charles L. She was born in Newburg, W.Va., on 2 July 1924, and was the only daughter of the late Harold D. Miller and Blanche (Sapp) Miller. She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Charles L. Jackson, who died in 2009. Dorothy was a 1942 graduate of Keyser High School and graduated from Potomac State College in 1944. She worked at the Martinsburg VA Hospital during World War II and later for Westvaco Corporation in Luke and Tiger Tractors in Keyser, W.Va. She retired as secretary-bookeeper from the Barr and James Law firm in Keyser. She loved caring for her great-grandchildren, reading, doing crossword puzzles and raising cats and her dog, Jobe. She is survived by three children, Lynn Berney and husband Ray, of Pittsburg, Pa.; Beth Newcomb and husband Gary, of Oakland, and Kevin Jackson and wife JoAnn, of Rawlings, Md. She is also survived by her eight grandchildren, David Berney, Heather Berney, Carrie Hordubay, Aaron Newcomb, Lauren Lechmaier, Miranda Jackson, Mandi Beavers and Shane Beavers and seven great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends at the Fredlock Funeral Home in Piedmont, W.Va., on Saturday 14 March 2015 from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Inurnment will be in Saint Peter Cemetery in Westernport at a later date. The family request that there be no flowers, and that memorials for their Mother be sent to the Allegany County Animal Shelter, 716 Furnace Street, Cumberland, MD 21502.”
