She was born February 20, 1927 in Ottumwa to Charles Herman and Florence Eunice Wright Kight. Dorothy married Dean LaVerne Hutton on February 18, 1950 in Ottumwa and he preceded her in death on December 24, 2005 after 55 years of marriage. Read More	Dorothy Hutton Dorothy Rozella Hutton, 91, of Ottumwa, died at 1:45 a.m. September 5, 2018 at Good Samaritan Society-Ottumwa. She was born February 20, 1927 in Ottumwa to Charles Herman and Florence Eunice Wright Kight. Dorothy married Dean LaVerne Hutton on February 18, 1950 in Ottumwa and he preceded her in death on December 24, 2005 after 55 years of marriage. Dorothy was a 1944 graduate of Ottumwa High School, she earned a BA from William Penn College in 1965 and a MA from Northeast Missouri State in 1977. In 1944, when she was just 17, she began teaching in a one room schoolhouse in Van Buren County. Most of her career was spent teaching fourth and fifth grade students in Hedrick and Ottumwa, retiring from Douma Elementary in Ottumwa in 1988. Dorothy was a member of Willard St. United Methodist Church. She enjoyed quilting, crafting, cooking (made the best angel food cakes) and living in the country. Surviving are her daughters, Dianne (John) Chadwick of Johnston and Debra Hutton (Terry Billington) of Ottumwa; two grandchildren, Matthew (Samantha) Chadwick of Minneapolis, MN and their children, Evey and Cassidy, and Benjamin (Jennifer) Chadwick of Grimes and their children, Adelyn and Alexander. Dorothy was preceded in death by her brother, Donald Raymond Kight. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Reece Funeral Home with Rev. Leila Disburg officiating. Burial will be in McCormick Cemetery. Visitation begins at 1 p.m. Friday with the family present from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Willard Street United Methodist Church. Published on September 5, 2018
