Funeral services will be Monday, March 12, 2012, at 10:30 a.m. at Schroeder Memorial Chapel at Sixth and Marshall with Rev. Andrea Kraushaar officiating. Burial will be in the Bass Point Cemetery. Dorothy was born in Boone on July 31, 1928 the daughter of Charles and Norma (White) Sumstine. She graduated from Boone High School and on August 1, 1946, Dorothy married Charles Goldsworth in Boone. In earlier years, Dorothy worked as a waitress while attending school. She was an Avon representative and from 1961 to 1987, she was employed at Bourns in Ames. Dorothy volunteered at the Boone & Scenic Valley Railroad. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, V.F.W. Auxiliary, National Railroad Retired Association, the Boone & Scenic Valley Railroad, and served on the Regency Retirement Board. Her family was very important to her and she enjoyed working, volunteer work, and life in general. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Charles, a sister Miki ‘M.J.' Kailiehu, and a half brother Harold Wirtz. Dorothy is survived by two sons: Mike Goldsworth and wife Pamela of Boone and Pat Goldsworth and wife Sara of Cheyenne, Wyoming; six grandchildren: Shaun and James, and Joshua, Nathan, Sarah, and Krista; four great-grandchildren: Decker, Charlie, Landry, and Katie; and a special niece Lynda White. Friends may call at the Schroeder Memorial Chapel on Sunday from 3 until 8 p.m. where the family will be present from 5 until 7 p.m. Visitation continues Monday at the funeral chapel from 8 a.m. until service time.
