Description	:	Mrs. Dorothy Geist age 65, of Gettysburg, passed away Sunday, July 28, 2008 at her home in Gettysburg after being diagnosed with cancer in February of 2007. Dorothy Geist was born on May 9, 1943 in Sundance, Wyoming to Harvey & Eleanor (Lincoln) Ward. Read More	Mrs. Dorothy Geist age 65, of Gettysburg, passed away Sunday, July 28, 2008 at her home in Gettysburg after being diagnosed with cancer in February of 2007. Dorothy Geist was born on May 9, 1943 in Sundance, Wyoming to Harvey & Eleanor (Lincoln) Ward. Dorothy attended schools in Sundance, Newcastle, Rapid City and Sheridan due to her father working in the oil industry. She married Glenn Geist in 1963 in Rapid City, SD they made their home in Seneca. Dorothy was baptized in 1968 in the Seneca Methodist Church where she taught Bible School. In 1991 joined the St. Bonifide Catholic Church in Seneca. In the mid 1990's they moved to Gettysburg where she has since resided. Dorothy worked in the Seneca Café, Oahe Manor as a CNA and also worked in the laundry department. She also worked in the bakery, courthouse, D&D grocery and babysat. Most recently she worked at the The Burg until the end of May. Dorothy enjoyed crafts, especially making afghans for loved ones, she also enjoyed working in her yard, baking for others, and having daily coffee with her friends. She is survived by her father: Harvey Ward of Ft. Meade, two daughters; Teresa (Stan) Liechti of Clear Lake, SD, and Diane Geist of Gettysburg. One grandson; Brent Liechti of Clear Lake, and one granddaughter; Saundra Liechti of Clear Lake. Two brothers; Russell (Kathie) Ward of Tuttle, OK, and Allen (Irene) Ward of New Castle, Wyoming. Sister-in-laws; Mary (Dale) Eriksen of Lebanon, Ruby (Jerry) Peters of Gettysburg, Phyllis Weber of Aberdeen, SD, and Annabelle (Larry) Conrad of Jasper, Florida, brothers-in-law; Raymond (Ruth) Duncan of Arizona, Phillip (Carol) Geist of Dallas and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband of 41 years, Glenn; mother Eleanor, step-mother Norma Ward, nephews David Weber & David Conrad, mother-in-law Inger Duncan, brother-in-laws, William Geist and Marvin Weber, and great-nephew Alan Conrad. Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, July 28, 2008 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Gettysburg. A Private inurnment will take place at a later date. Ripley Memorial Chapel of Gettysburg is in charge of the arrangements. (Obit at Kesling Funeral Home.)
