Newspaper source unknown at this time. ********** Aged Pioneer Resident Dies Mrs. Niels Jensen departed this life, Saturday; Funeral was held Monday Dorothea Karoline Jensen nee Jorgensen was born March the 18th 1859, at Shelby Falster, Denmark. When but a couple of years old, her parents moved to Gundslov, where she was educated, and also confirmed by Pastor Worsye in the Lutheran faith. She grew to maidenhood there, and later went to work for her grandparents who were foresters on Lolland. At the age of 23 she decided to come to America, and came direct to Howard County, Nebraska. She made her home with her uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. Rasmus Ebbesen. The same year, June 24th 1882 she married Niels, and 6 children were born to them; three sons and three daughters; Kornerup at home; Harriet Price who lives in Nystead, Nebr.; Ellinor Nielsen at Moline, Ill.; Joshua at Curtis, Nebr.; Ebbe, also at home, and Adelaide Lassen at Hollywood, Calif. Niels Jensen and wife were among the early pioneers and improved 2 farms, having worked hard all their lives, and stayed with their life work until death. Mr. Jenen preceded his wife in death 3 years ago February. Dorothea Karoline Jensen was the oldest of 4 children, born to Karen and Niels Jorgensen. Her father was a baker by profession, and also a gardner. Her mother was a doctor, having graduated from the medical school of Obstetrics, in Copenhagen, with the first de- [End page 1 - missing information begins here] (Copy of clipping - Page 2) Denmark, and one in California; one brother, Fred Jorgensen, of Dannebrog deceased 10 years ago. She was a kind and devoted mother, ever mindful of our Creator and Savior, and always considerate of others welfare. She died October 20, 1933, [which one is correct?] at the age of 74 years, 7 mo., and 2 days. The funeral was held from the home on Monday afternoon, 1:30 o'clock, where Rev. Hojbjerg spoke briefly in Danish and offered prayer. The service was continued at 2 o'clock in the Nysted church. Rev. Pedersen from Dannebrog read the obituary and spoke briefly in English, followed by Rev. Moeller who also spoke in English and Rev. Hojbjerg closed the service by a talk in Danish. The singing was all in Danish both at the home and at the church. After the services the body was taken to Dannebrog followed by a large procession, and she was laid to rest beside her husband in the Oak Ridge Cemetery to await the day of resurection. May the Lord comfort her dear ones in their sorrow. ### CARD OF THANKS We wish to convey our sincere thanks to each and everyone who so kindly visited our beloved Mother and Grandmother during her illness and helped us during our bereavement.
