Description	:	Dorward A. Schleuter, age 89, of Watertown, South Dakoa, passed away Sunday, January 8, 2012 in Watertown. Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 12, 2012 at Wight, Comes & Sogn Funeral Chapel in Watertown, with visitation one hour prior to the service. Reverend Arthur Tinge will officiate and A.J. Sherrill will be the organist. Interment will be at Lakeview Cemetery in Clear Lake, South Dakota. Military honors will be conducted by American Legion Charles Curry Post 49 of Clear Lake, South Dakota and SD Army National Guard Funeral Detail. Dorward Awald Schleuter was born on January 1, 1923 in Clear Lake, South Dakota to Awald and Emma (Koppmann) Schleuter. He grew up in the Clear Lake area and attended country school. He worked for the South Dakota Game, Fish and Parks prior to being drafted in the US Army during WWII. He served in the Asiatic-Pacific Theatre and received his honorable discharge on October 1, 1946. Dorward returned to his job with the Park Division and was involved in starting many of the state parks in the Glacial Lakes Region. He married Martha Demenge on September 6, 1951 in Glencoe, Minnesota. After their marriage, they lived in Estelline and Richmond Lake before moving to Watertown in 1964. Dorward retired in 1986. He enjoyed working on and restoring stationary engines, attending threshing bees, and rodeos. Dorward was a member of the American Legion Post 17 of Watertown. He was preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters, Inez and Olive. Dorward is survived by his wife, Martha of Watertown, SD; his children, Stephanie Dunker and Maurice Froehlich; Nancy Schleuter and her husband, Gary Larson all of St. Clair, MN; three grandchildren, Andrea, Stesha and Andrew; and two great grandchildren, Hank and Maxwell. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
