He served on the Billings school board,... Read More	Douglas Burton Sipes Aug 10, 2012 TUCSON, Ariz. — Douglas B. Sipes, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and brother-in-law passed away Aug. 4, 2012. Born in Missoula to Burton Sipes and Vere Holben on Feb. 13, 1932, he attended Paxon grade school, Missoula County High School and the University of Montana, attaining his degree in accounting. He served four years as a radio operator in the U.S.A.F. where he fought in the Korean War. He retired from KPMG as partner in charge of the Billings office. He served on the Billings school board, the BACET board and was president of the Yellowstone Country Club where he spent countless hours playing golf with his friends, who fondly called him Colonel Klink. Upon retiring he spent 18 years playing golf at Briarwood; Palm Springs, Calif.; and The Gallery in Tucson, Ariz. When he could no longer play golf, Doug went to work for H&R Block and as a moderator for Western CPE, where he was considered the standard by which all moderators were measured. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Penny; his children Kelly (Curt) Stein, Terri Murphy, Pat (Carmel) Sipes, Mike (LeAnne) Sipes and Kyle (Jen) Sipes. His sister Sonja Skinner (Bob Murchinson) and his brother-in-law Jim (Florence) Kittell have also survived him. He is also survived by numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Burton and Vere Sipes; his son, Shawn Douglas Sipes; his grandson Samuel Douglas Sipes; and his brother-in-law Ted Kittell. A Mass celebrating his life will be held at St. Pius Church on Friday, Aug. 17, at 1 p.m. The internment of his ashes will follow. Donations may be made to BACET or the charity of your choice.
