Description	:	Graveside Committal services for Douglas C. Johnson, 76, of Kimball, will be Friday, August 12, 2016 at West Cedar Valley Cemetery, rural Elgin, Nebraska, with Rev. Michael Davis officiating. American Legion Post 229 and VFW Post 229 of Elgin will provide military rites. Doug passed away at the Kimball County Manor on Sunday, October 6, 2013. Memorial services were held on Friday, October 11, 2013 at the Diner in Kimball. Services were handled by the Cantrell Funeral Home. Douglas Clinton Johnson was born in Oakdale, Nebraska on July 30, 1937, the son of August LaVern "Vern" and Grace (Tierney) Johnson. He attended and graduated from school in Oakdale. Doug served his country in the United States Army and was proud of his time in the military. Doug started a family in Neligh Nebraska where he worked as a mechanic and then later as a plumber. He moved his family to Kimball in 1969. He worked at Weather Wise and then worked in the oil fields for many years. Doug had several jobs through his life, but he really enjoyed working as a custodian for the Georgetown, Texas School System. Doug had a quick wit and he was always ready to tell a story. He never met a stranger, and he loved to visit. Survivors include: his children, Louis (Karen) Johnson, Jeff Johnson, and Carol (Keith) Bernard; grandchildren, Holly, Nick, Amber and Andy; four great grandchildren.
