APPLEGATE Douglas James Applegate, 91, died at his home on Florence street at 3:35 p.m. Thursday after a year of failing health. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Frances, April 3, 1937 [sic], and is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Anna Donaldson, at home, and a brother, George Applegate of Sioux City. He came to Ottumwa 44 years ago and had lived here ever since. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Community funeral chapel in charge of the Rev. S. C. Cole, former pastor of the Riverview Methodist church, now in Millersburg. Burial will be in Shaul cemetery. The body will remain at the funeral chapel until the time for the service.
