Description	:	Douglas L. Thelen, age 61 of Fordyce, Nebraska died on Monday, September 21, 2015 at the Bloomfield Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Bloomfield, Nebraska after a short bout with cancer. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Friday, September 25, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Menominee, Nebraska with the Rev. James Keiter officiating. A luncheon will follow the mass prior to leaving for St. Frances Cemetery in Randolph, NE. Arrangements are under the direction of the Wintz Funeral Home in Hartington. Pallbearers will be Scott Bonertz, Pat Bender, Bryan Suing, Tony Thelen, Ted Thelen, and Jack Thelen. Douglas Leo Thelen was born on January 4, 1954 in Osmond, Nebraska to George A. and Norma Jean (Brodersen) Thelen Jr. He grew up in Randolph and graduated from Randolph High School in 1972. He farmed with his dad on the home place. Doug married Jane Marie Bonertz on October 7, 1978 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in St. Helena, Nebraska. He and Jane moved to the Fordyce area in 1980 and Doug started working for Wilson Trailer Company in Yankton in 1983. He worked as a machine fabricator until September 4th of this year. Doug was an avid Oliver tractor collector and loved going to the National Toy Show in Iowa every year. He attended many tractor shows and auctions. Doug and Jane enjoyed an annual campout with their friends. He liked to play poker and enjoyed his time with family and friends. Doug is survived by his wife, Jane of Fordyce; parents George and Norma Thelen of Randolph, seven brothers and spouses Mike Thelen of Lincoln, Chuck and Pat Thelen of Spring Creek, NV, Greg and Dot Thelen of Randolph, John and Kelly Thelen of Randolph, Joe and Ann Thelen of Johnston, Iowa, Dan and Shari Thelen of Norfolk, Andy and Tina Thelen of Randolph; sister Maureen and husband David Lewis of Eyota, MN; three aunts Irene Rhode, Lorraine Backer, Mary Ann Tuninck all of Randolph; uncle Norb and wife Ruth Thelen of Randolph; many nieces and nephews. Doug was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents George A. and Anna Thelen Sr.; maternal grandparents Adolph and Martha Brodersen; two brothers Patrick and David Thelen. In lieu of flowers the family prefers memorials to the American Cancer Society
