Description	:	Douglas Warren Grant passed away unexpectedly at his home in Hydesville on July 1, 1995. Doug was born May 10, 1932, in Ukiah, CA to the late Reginald and Fannie(Butler) Grant. Read More	Douglas Warren Grant passed away unexpectedly at his home in Hydesville on July 1, 1995. Doug was born May 10, 1932, in Ukiah, CA to the late Reginald and Fannie(Butler) Grant. He graduated from Ukiah High School with the class of 1950. While in high school, he was active in the California Cadet Corps. He had a long list of interesting occupations, among them; working in service stations, driving school bus, driving truck in Alaska during the building of the Alaskan Pipeline, he drove long-line all over the United States for a period of time, worked as a Fire Captain for the California Department of Forestry, and was instrumental in the designing and building of the original AirTanker base at Rohnerville Airport. He had owned and operated a logging business and Doug Grant Trucking. Doug worked for Nor-Cal Industries and Roebuck Freightliner and he retired when Roebuck closed its doors. He was a member of the Native Sons of the Golden West, Eureka Parlor. Doug had a special love for his family and friends, although his wit and sense of humor sometimes made you wonder. His mind was always busy, and he was always making plans for a project. He had a mini farm and enjoyed caring for his animals and watching them grow. He liked to raise a small garden and maintain his yard. Through the years he has enjoyed hunting and fishing. Doug was very mechanical, and taught and helped his son grow to be the same. They spent many hours together on various mechanical projects. He shared his love of animals and gardening with his daughter. Both of them enjoying the time spent together. Including his grandsons in his life and in these areas was also important to him. He loved to visit with his friends and fellow truckers and included them in his daily routine. He will be missed by his family and friends. He is survived by his daughter Claudia Deahl and her husband Gene of Auburn, WA, his daughter Tammi Grant of Fortuna, his son Dallas Grant and his wife Brenda of Fortuna; his grandchildren, Erin Deahl of Auburn, WA and Dustin William and Dillion Warren Grant of Fortuna; his sisters, Glenda Schubert and her husband Larry of Linden, and Frances Nicholson of Redwood Valley; his nieces, Krista Eisbrenner of Potter Valley, and Katie Schubert of Linden, his nephew Reginald Schubert of Stockton and his great nephew Colby Schubert of Stockton; his aunts, Alice Phillips and Betty Chastain of Ukiah. He is also survived by special friends, the mother's of his children, Mary Riffle of Redwood Valley and Bonnie Grant of Fortuna, and numerous other relatives and friends. Friends are invited to attend graveside services at Sunrise Cemetery in Fortuna on Thursday, July 6, 1995, at 2 p.m. Arrangements are under the direction of Goble's Chapel, Fortuna.
