He was 74. He lived in Clarke and Union Counties and lived in Murray for the last 33 years. He married Edna Maxine Lamb on Sept. 11, 1943, in Bethany, Missouri. Mr. McConnell served in the Navy during World War II. Before he retired he was a farmer and self-employed carpenter. He never knew a stranger and was always willing to help anyone. One of his many joys in life was spending time with his wife watching wildlife at the cabin. He loved to tinker with his wood working and family and friends treasure his projects. Mr. McConnell was preceded in death by his parents; a grandchild; a great-grandchild; and three brothers. He is survived by his wife, Edna Maxine Lamb McConnell of Murray; two sons, Rodger McConnell and his wife, Donna McConnell, of Savannah, Mo. and Darius McConnell and his wife, Kim McConnell, of Murray; four daughters, Sheila Warren and her husband, Steve Warren, of Cedar Creek, Neb., Ritha Wolfe and her husband, Keith Wolfe, of Murray, Darcy Schaff and Kirk Windhorst of Omaha, Neb. and Denise Riley and her husband, Tim Riley, of Lincoln, Neb.; 16 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; four sisters•Arlene Simmerman, Barbara Gibbons and her husband, Robert Gibbons, Betty Jones and her husband, Richard Jones, all of Murray and Beatrice Woods of Lorimor, two brothers, Frank McConnell and his wife, Twyla McConnell, of Mountain Home, Ark. and Don McConnell and his wife, Pauline McConnell of Ontario, Canada.[Note: California] Services were May 29 at Samuelson Funeral Home. Pastor Dwayne Henrichs officiated. The organist was Pennie Gonseth. Lynne Samuelson sang Always (I'll Be Loving You). Casket bearers were Steve Ritter, Brad Rice, Lyle Jackson, Andy Schrodt, Tracy Simmerman, Dave Shannon and Don Davis. Interment was in the Murray Cemetery.
