Description	:	Doyle Vernon McGaha, 83, of the Zion Community, died August 26, 2014 at NHC of Anderson. Born June 27, 1931 in Anderson County, he was the son of the late William Thomas and Hattie Virginia Martin McGaha. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean War. Mr. McGaha was a retired supervisor at LaFrance Industries with 42 years service. He was a member of Zion United Methodist Church. He enjoyed golf, square dancing, gardening and traveling. Born June 27, 1931 in Anderson County, he was the son of the late William Thomas and Hattie Virginia Martin McGaha. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean War. Mr. McGaha was a retired supervisor at LaFrance Industries with 42 years service. He was a member of Zion United Methodist Church. He enjoyed golf, square dancing, gardening and traveling. He loved his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Survivors include his wife Imogene Adams McGaha; daughter Ivanell Harbin Roper and husband Paul of Marietta, Ga; grandchildren Leah Harbin of Marietta, Ga, Jeremy Harbin and wife Lynn of Anderson, Ashlee Roper, Mandee White and husband Matthew, all of Marietta, Ga; great grandchildren Hayley, Makenzee, Larkin, Emma, and Mason; and a sister, Nellie Gray of Lavonia, Ga. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by daughter Ronda Kay McGaha; brother Thomas McGaha; and sisters Willie Mae Maney, Louise McGaha, Lavinia McClain, Ruth McClain, Annie B. Pace and Helen Whitfield. Funeral services were held at Zion United Methodist Church conducted by Dr. Shawn Armstrong and Rev. Dan Batson. Burial, with military honors provided by the Upstate Veterans Honor Guard, followed in the church cemetery. Flowers are optional. Memorials may be made to Zion United Methodist Church Building Fund, 5708 Highway 187 North, Anderson, SC 29625. The family would like to express their appreciation to the staff of NHC, Station 3, Dr. James Walker, Caris Hospice, and caregiver Brenda Wages, for the loving care given to Mr. McGaha. Sullivan-King Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.
