Surviving are a son, Kevin (Becky); a brother, Roger (Alice); a sister, Janice (Jim) Felver; and three grandchildren, Abby, Kendra and Alexander Krouskop. Deceased is a brother, Dennis. He began his law enforcement career in Ohio in 1973, where he worked eight years in assignments that included undercover narcotics detective and homicide investigator. He began his career with the San Diego Sheriff's Department in 1981, retiring as a captain in 2008. During his career on the sheriff's department, he worked assignments in all bureaus, most extensively in narcotics and special investigations. He was admired and respected by all who worked with and for him. Throughout his career he received several honors including the Outstanding Deputy of the Year award, Sheriff's Medal of Merit, a Meritorious Unit Citation and 11 reports of Exemplary Performance. Following his retirement he worked a year in Afghanistan on a mentoring contract, helping train the Afghanistan National Drug Interdiction Unit. In July 2010, he was selected as the SD-LECC deputy director. Additionally, He spent 30 years in the Army Reserve, as an intelligence analyst and psychological operations specialist, with 10 overseas deployments. During his military career he received three Reserve Achievement Medals, a Humanitarian Service Medal, an Army Commendation Medal and the Meritorious Service Medal. There will be graveside services.
