A mixed quartet, composed of Mrs. Paul Felsing, Mrs. Darwin Larson, Chester Lund and G. W. Moor, sang "What a Friend We Have in Jesus." Mrs. Dale Peterson was accompanist. Pallbearers were Clyde Horsley, Leonard Cowan, Dan Younggreen, Konrad Younggreen, Don Hamilton of Joice and Charles McCullough of Mallard. Burial was in the Laurens cemetery with Hitchcock Funeral Home in charge. There were Masonic rites at the grave, conducted by members of Grace Lodge, A.F.&A.M. Born in1877 Alexander Morton, son of Joseph and Elizabeth Morton, was born in Laurens Aug. 24,1877. He received his elementary education in the local schools, and for several years was employed in the Hakes store in Laurens and as a poultry buyer for the M.&.J.R. Hakes firm. In this work he traveled extensively, mostly by horse and wagon, in northwest Iowa, eastern South Dakota and southern Minnesota. In 1907 he entered the dental college of the State University of Iowa, from which he was graduated in 1910. Upon his admission to practice he returned to Laurens where he began and continued his professional career as a dentist until his retirement from active practice in 1950, when he sold the practice to Dr. H. J. Kestel of Storm Lake. Dr. Morton was an active member of Grace Lodge No. 519 of Laurens, and in 1914 served as master of the lodge. He was a member of the Consistory and Shrine, the advanced degrees of Masonry. He became a member of the Church of Christ of Laurens Feb. 25, 1906. In addition to his dental practice, Dr. Morton was interested in agriculture. For many years he owned and operated three farms. Dr. Morton is survived by a brother, Charles Morton of Chelan, Wash.; several nephews, Elery A. Turner of Cedar Rapids, Merle E. Turner of California, Earl Dixon of Garner, and Kenneth Morton, Floyd Morton, Leonard Morton and Lloyd Morton of Chelan, Wash.; and several nieces, Maude Gaddis of Hayfield, Dorothy M.
