Born Oct. 5, 1930, in Cumberland, he was a son of the late Dominic Arnold and Mary McGreevy. He was also preceded in death by one brother, John McGreevy. Read More	The Republican, 16 Sept 2005: "Oakland, Maryland-Dr. Arnold Gerard "Gerry" McGreevy, 65, Braddock Heights and Deep Creek Lake, died Saturday, Sept. 10, 2005, at the Georgetown University Hospital, Washington, D.C. Born Oct. 5, 1930, in Cumberland, he was a son of the late Dominic Arnold and Mary McGreevy. He was also preceded in death by one brother, John McGreevy. He graduated from LaSalle High School, Cumberland, and attended Mount Saint Mary's College, Emmitsburg, where he graduated with a bachelor of science degree in biology in 1961. The University of Maryland Dental School awarded him a degree of doctor of dental surgery in 1965. He later served in the U.S. Navy from 1965 to 1967. Dr. McGreevy had been employed in private practice in Frederick since 1967. He was a member of the Frederick County Dental Society and served as its president in 1971 and again in 1996, and served on the executive committee from 1968 to 1976 and from 1995 through 1997, as well as on numerous other committees. A member of the Maryland State Dental Association, he served on the board of governors from 1974 through 1981, and also on numerous committees, including serving as president-elect from 1997 to 1998, and as president of the Maryland Dental Association in 1998. Professionally, he was also a member of the American Dental Association and was a fellow of the American College of Dentists in the Pierre Fauchard Academy. He was also a member of the International College of Dentists. He was honored in 2001 as recipient of the Thomas S. Eader Award for outstanding service to the profession of dentistry. He was also involved in many community activities. He was a member of the Rotary Club of Frederick and served as president from 1988 to 1989. He also coached and officiated in the Middletown Valley Athletic Association, served as cub master for the Boy Scouts, and was president of the Middletown middle and high school PTAs. He also served as president of the Sports Booster Club of Middletown High School. He was active in the Mount Saint Mary's Club since 1985. Dr. McGreevy served on the land acquisition committee and fund development committee of the Holy Family Catholic Church, Middletown, where he was an active member and served on the parish board. He is survived by his wife, K. Joyce Mullan Mc-Greevy, whom he married Aug. 31, 1963; five children, Maureen Kathryn Mc-Greevy, Houston, Texas, Michael Gerard McGreevy, Martinsburg, W.Va., Matthew Christopher McGreevy, Frederick, Mark Patrick McGreevy, Middletown, and Martin Andrew McGreevy, London, England; one brother, Patrick B. McGreevy, Pittsburgh, Pa.; and three grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today, Thursday, Sept. 15, at the Keeney and Basford Funeral Home, Frederick. A service will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday at the Holy Family Catholic Community, Middletown. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Father J. Kevin Farmer. Interment will be in Mount Saint Mary's Cemetery, Emmitsburg.
