Description	:	Inventor and Surgeon. He invented the first plow with movable parts, the Maupin turning plow, which is pulled by oxen. It was the first of its kind in the US. According to a story in a history book, he was scheduled to marry an aristocratic Kentucky lady, but just before he left for the wedding, a neighbor had an attack of appendicitis. He had to decide to either operate and save the man's life, or get to the church on time. He chose to operate. After the operation, he went to the church, but his irate bride had cancelled the...
