Description	:	Dr. Dana Coolidge Dingley, 93, died on July 5, 2013, at Pinewood Terrace in Farmington, where he had been a resident for the past four and a half years. He was born May 28, 1920, in Farmington, the son of Roland S. and Cordana (Coolidge) Dingley. He was educated in the schools of Farmington, graduating from Farmington High School, Class of 1938. He furthered his education at the University of Maine at Orono, graduating in 1943 and at the Cornell University School of Veterinarian Medicine, graduating in 1949. Read More	Dr. Dana Coolidge Dingley, 93, died on July 5, 2013, at Pinewood Terrace in Farmington, where he had been a resident for the past four and a half years. He was born May 28, 1920, in Farmington, the son of Roland S. and Cordana (Coolidge) Dingley. He was educated in the schools of Farmington, graduating from Farmington High School, Class of 1938. He furthered his education at the University of Maine at Orono, graduating in 1943 and at the Cornell University School of Veterinarian Medicine, graduating in 1949. After graduating from Cornell, Dana worked with Dr. Alfred Coombs in Skowhegan. He set up his own practice in Wilton for awhile before establishing the Farmington Veterinary Hospital in Farmington in 1952 and retired from there in 1980. He also taught school part-time at UMF. Dana served his country during World War II as a captain in the U.S. Air Force, where in 1942, he completed the Brooks Field Air Corp Advanced Flying School, Class of 42-B. He was a decorated military pilot flying B-17 and DC-3 aircraft in the Southwest Pacific Theater and was awarded the Flying Cross and the Legion of Merit Award. In 1982, Dana married Winnifred Blanchard Oliver in Wilton. He was a member of the Henderson Memorial Baptist Church, Maine Lodge 20 AF & AM for more than 60 years, and Kora Temple Shrine for more than 50 years. He enjoyed flying airplanes, fishing, hunting and gardening. As an artist, he loved painting and sketching. He was predeceased by his wife, Winnifred; his sister, Jackie; and his brothers, Edward and Frank. Excerpted from Sun Journal
