BIOGRAPHY: (From "History of Wabash County, Indiana" pub. 1884, page 262-A) DR. D.W. STRADLEY is of English-German descent. His father (Dr. Ayres Stradley) was born in Delaware, and his mother, Rhoda (Wilkins) Stradley, in Maryland. After marriage his parents moved to Muskingum County, Ohio, where the subject of this sketch was born November 24, 1815. In 1830 he came with his parents to Mount Blanchard, Hancock Co. Ohio. In 1840 he commenced the study of medicine in the office of Drs. Beech & Stephens of that county. In 1845 he actively engaged in the practice of medicine, in which he continued until 1849, when he removed to Wabash County, where for more than thirty-four years he has followed his chosen profession. In 1835 he married Miss Elizabeth Bell, of Hancock County, Ohio, who died in 1866. To them were born ten children, only four of whom are living, two sons and two daughters. The two sons, Daniel N. and Ayres Stradley, are both practicing physicians in Colorado. Dr. Stradley in 1867 married Miss Mary E.C. Bruner, and they have had two children, one of whom is living. He is the only surviving member of his father's family. His mother died in 1882 ad the advanced age of ninety-five, having lived to see her husband and all of her children buried - one alone excepted. The Doctor has a large practice, stands high in his profession and is much esteemed as a citizen for his moral and social qualities. Died at age 79 years, 11 months, 11 days.
