Description	:	Dr. Neil Alford was the son of Daniel Murdock Alford and Cady Ann Harrleson Alford from Marion County, South Carolina. Neil was a farm boy with a desire to become a doctor. Neil graduated from hight school in 1895. For the three years after high school Neil taught school and farmed in order to earn money to pay for college. He attended Wofford College, The Medical College in Charleston, SC and completed his studies at the University of Nashville, Medical School in 1907. Read More	Dr. Neil Alford was the son of Daniel Murdock Alford and Cady Ann Harrleson Alford from Marion County, South Carolina. Neil was a farm boy with a desire to become a doctor. Neil graduated from hight school in 1895. For the three years after high school Neil taught school and farmed in order to earn money to pay for college. He attended Wofford College, The Medical College in Charleston, SC and completed his studies at the University of Nashville, Medical School in 1907. Dr. Alford moved to Miami, Florida in 1909, and opened an office. In the following year he was offered a position with the United States Public Health Department, in charge of quarantine on the St. Johns River, with headquarters in Jacksonville. From 1909-1918, Dr. Alford lived and practiced medicine in Mayport. During World War I he served offered his skills to both the army and the navy units located at the mouth of the St. Johns River. After the war he moved to Jacksonville and open a private practice with a large clientele. During World War II, he was awarded three Presidental citations from FDR. On January 31, 1927 he married Maysel Louise Flournoy and from this union there were no children. Dr. Alford was memberof the Duval County Medical Society, the Florida State Medical Association, Southern Medical Association, American MEdical Association, and of the Phi Kappa Alpha and Alpha Kappa Kappa greek letter fraternities. He was also a member of Solomon Lodge, No. 20, the Jacksonville Consistory. He was very active in civic affairs and was a Captain in the United States Army Reserve Corps.
