Description	:	Reverend Edward Carver, 95, of Evansville, In and formerly of Scottsville, Ky, passed on to his Heavenly home Saturday, August 21, 2010 at Good Samaritan Home surrounded by his family. The Springfield, Il native was a dedicated, faithful servant of God serving full time pastorates in southern Indiana, Kentucky and northern Tennessee in the General Baptist denomination from his ordination in 1940 through 1992. The Springfield, Il native was a dedicated, faithful servant of God serving full time pastorates in southern Indiana, Kentucky and northern Tennessee in the General Baptist denomination from his ordination in 1940 through 1992. He married Alene Emberton on June 16, 1940 in Allen County, Ky. In 1941, he began his formal studies for the ministry at Oakland City University and graduated in 1945. In 1993, the university awarded him an Honorary Doctorate of Divinity degree for his many years of service to the university and his leadership in the General Baptist denomination. He was among a small group of pastors who founded the General Baptist church camp, Camp Brosend, in Newburgh, In. He was active throughout its development and served on the teaching staff for twelve years. He had many interests and hobbies. He was a master carpenter as were the Carver men for several preceding generations. He passed on this skill to his two sons and three grandsons. He also raised cattle on a farm where he and his wife resided for a number of years. Edward was a Kentucky Colonel and member of Halfway Lodge #852. He was one of seven children born to the late William Carver and Melissa Harrison Carver. His family was very precious to him, and he is survived by his loving wife of 70 years, Alene Carver, Evansville, In; 2 sons: David Carver and wife, Aasta, Elberfeld, In; Richard Carver and wife, Diann, Louisville, Ky; 5 grandchildren: Richard Carver, Jr. and wife, Stephanie; Amy Mulesky and husband, Ray; Andrew Carver and wife, Laurie; Marla Sanders and husband, Chris and Jeffrey Ostercamp; 7 great grandchildren: Austin and Jessica Carver, Spencer Mulesky, Katharine Carver and Megan Morgan and Matthew Sanders; 1 sister: Virginia Brooks and numerous beloved nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by 1 daughter: Beth Carver; 4 sisters: Ruby Struve, Monette Eicher, Lucille Bradley and Hazel Carver and 1 brother: Donald Carver. Funeral services for Reverend Edward Carver will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 24, 2010 at Terrace Parke General Baptist Church, 2145 E. Columbia St., Evansville, In with Pastor Bob Kennedy officiating. Visitation will be 10:00 a.m. until service time at the church. A local funeral service will be 12:Noon Wednesday, August 25, 2010 at Mt. Union General Baptist Church with burial in Mt. Union Cemetery. Visitation will be at the church at 11:00 a.m. until funeral time.
