Description	:	Elden Loren Mohr was born March 12, 1929, in Valley City, ND, to George and Lillie (Altes) Mohr. Because his father worked for the railroad, Elden attended schools in Manitoba Junction, Moorhead, and Bismarck, ND. He graduated from Bismarck High School in 1946. Read More	Elden Loren Mohr was born March 12, 1929, in Valley City, ND, to George and Lillie (Altes) Mohr. Because his father worked for the railroad, Elden attended schools in Manitoba Junction, Moorhead, and Bismarck, ND. He graduated from Bismarck High School in 1946. Elden enlisted in the Army on October 3, 1946, and served until August 17, 1949. At the time of his discharge, Elden held the rank of Corporal. He continued his education at Concordia College, Moorhead, where he received his Bachelor of Arts degree. He then received his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of North Dakota, at Grand Forks, ND. Elden received his medical degree from George Washington University Hospital, Washington, DC, on May 3, 1954. He served three years of his residency at George Washington and two years at the University of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Eldens field was general surgery. Elden went on to practice medicine at the Veterans Hospital in Marion, IL, until he transferred to the Veterans Hospital in Vancouver, WA. He retired in 1986. Having served over thirty-three years in the Army reserve, Elden retired at the rank of Colonel. While in Vancouver, Elden developed his passion for roses and he joined the Rose Society where he served as president. He took on the task of forming the official Heritage Rose Gardens at Old Fort Vancouver. These were roses that were all grown before 1910. The Garden continues and is maintained by the Fort Vancouver Rose Society. Elden moved to his lake home, on Little McDonald Lake, in October of 2006. Due to declining health, he moved to Moorhead in March of 2007, to live with his brother and family. It was at their home that Elden died, at seventy-eight years of age, on Friday, February 15, 2008, under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley and Fellowship Care. Elden is survived by his three brothers, Darril (Muriel), and Grant (Shirley), both of Moorhead, and Dennis (Cathy) of Lakeville, MN; a sister, Betty (Lou) LaMoore, Bloomington, MN; and their families. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Glenn and Adelbert; and a sister, Marceline. Burial will be with his parents in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Fargo.
