Description	:	Elmer received his M. D. from the University of Iowa in 1921. He practiced medicine in Wheatland, IA for nearly 50 years. He was a captain in the U.S. Army during World War II. He entered the service in August 1942 and was discharged in February 1946. He went overseas in September 1943 and was captured by the Japanese in the Philippines and survived the Bataan Death March. He returned to the U.S. in November 1945. He married Augusta Stankee on May 31, 1923. They had three children: sons:Marvin, Vinton and daughter:LaDon Ann Boom.	Elmer received his M.
