Description	:	Son of Johann William Stumme & Emma Caroline Blasberg. After working at the habadashery for awhile, Ernest went on to medical school and finally to an internal medicine residency in Philadelphia, before returning to his small rural hometown of Denver, Iowa for good. Ernest had his general practice in his parent's home from the late 1930's until 1958, when he built a two physician clinic. When he arrived home from Philadelphia to consider whether to set up a practice in the neighboring city, the local general practitioner had just left town. Folks would drop by with some ailment... Ernest had his general practice in his parent's home from the late 1930's until 1958, when he built a two physician clinic. When he arrived home from Philadelphia to consider whether to set up a practice in the neighboring city, the local general practitioner had just left town. Folks would drop by with some ailment or complaint and Ernest would bring back some medicine for them when he went into the city. "Doc Stumme" was needed so he stayed. Ernest spent a few days in Canada every summer fishing. His day off each week was spent doing paper work, tending to emergencies, making his usual rounds at the hospital and seeing folks who just never seemed to make it to town on regular office days. He oftened missed part or all of a holiday or family function especially if it meant being out of town. He never married and he didn't have to retire, as he died quickly of a massive stroke at age 72.
