Services will be... Read More	DR. F. A. HARTLEY RITES ARRANGED Brief Illness Is Fatal To Prominent Local Doctor Funeral services for Dr. F. A. Hartley, 72, of 37 S. Kensington pl., prominent as an eye, ear, nose and throat specialist, and a member emeritus of the Springfield City Hospital staff, will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Littleton funeral home. Services will be in charge of the Rev. Dr. J. C. Plummer, pastor of the High Street Methodist Church. burial will be in the Rosedale Cemetery near Rosewood, O. Following a two-day illness, Dr. Hartley died at 5:20 p.m. Monday in the hospital. Until that time he had apparently been in his usual good health and had attended to his duties in his offices in the First National Bank bldg. Born in Union County, Nov. 28, 1870, Dr. Hartley first came to Springfield 33 years ago, after having seven years of general medical practice. He joined the staff of the hospital as a specialist a short time after moving to this city, and continued on the active staff until 1939. On May 24, 1939, he resigned from the staff and was made a member emeritus by City Manager, Wilbur H. Story. He was a member of the Clark County Medical Society, the Ohio State Medical Association, and the American Medical Association, and was widely known throughout the profession. He also was a member of the High st. Methodist Church, the H. S. Kissell Lodge No. 674, Free and Accepted Masons, and the Springfield Kiwanis Club. Dr. Hartley was a graduate of the Starling Medical College, now the medical department of Ohio State University, and took post-graduate work in the Philadelphia Polyclinic Hospital, and the Wills Eye Hospital in Philadelphia. He later continued his studies in the University of Vienna in Austria. He was rated by the American Medical Association as a specialist in the treatment of eye, ear, nose and throat ailments. He recently was appointed to the post of assistant chief of the emergency medical unit of the Civilian Defense Corps, and was active in civilian affairs of the community. Surviving are the widow, Della M.; two sisters, Mrs. John Longberry, of Richwood, and Mrs. A. J. Lewis, of Pasadena, Calif., and several nieces and nephews.
