Services were held at 10:30 Friday September 5th 1997 at the Grace United Methodist Church in Spencer. George L Fraseur was born to George and Elizabeth (Lee) Fraseur in Tipton Iowa August 29th 1922. His childhood years were spent in the Tipton area where he received his early education. After graduating from Tipton high school he continued his schooling at Tipton Junior College before enrolling at the University of Iowa. George enter the military in 1943 serving with the Army Medical Corps in World War II. While in the military George played Trombone for a dance band. Following his discharge in 1946 he entered the University of Iowa Dental School. George married Marge Mauer on December 28th 1947 in Tipton. They made their home in Iowa City where George completed dental school as well as receiving his master's degree in Orthodontics. They then moved to Spencer where George began practice on his birthday in 1951. George was an active citizen in the Spencer Community where he was a long-time member of the Grace United Methodist Church. He sang in the church choir and served in the building committee for the new Sanctuary Edition. George was a Mason maintaining his membership in Cedar Chapter #11 in Tipton and he was a member of the Abu Bekr Shrine. He was a member of the Iowa Dental Society, the American Association of Orthodontics, the Midwest Society of Orthodontist, the Iowa Society of Orthodontist, where he served as president and the Psi Omega Dental fraternity. He was a member of the Golden K, the Spencer Country Club and the past present at the YMCA. For 37 years George and Marge spent their summers at Lake Okoboji. Since 1983 when George retire from his practice they lived in Florida. He sang in the choir at Cypress Lake Methodist Church in Fort Myers. Throughout his life enjoyed collecting antique cars and was a charter member of the Iowa Great Lakes Antique Car Club. He also enjoyed golf, cards boating and working with young people. George is survived by his wife Marge four children Richard George Fraseur of Spirit Lake, James Newton Fraseur, his wife Susan and their son of Spencer and Clearwater Florida, Ann Fraseur Aggers, her husband Kevin and their children of Loveland Colorado. And Jane Fraseur Lee, her husband Jeff and their children of Port Orchard Washington. One brother and his wife John and Leona Fraseur of Tipton, one sister and her husband Joan and Richard Overholser of Noblesville Indiana, and other relatives and many friends. Internment was at Riverside Cemetery in Spencer. Warner Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
