Description	:	Dr. George E. Ulbrick, 92, of Hooper died Wednesday, Aug. 4, 2010, at Hooper Care Center in Hooper after several years of declining health. He was born Feb. 11, 1918, on the family farm in southern Otoe County. He was the youngest of the nine children of Alfred W. and Wilhelmina Neubauer Ulbrick and a descendant of Peter Ulbrick, one of Nebraska's early frontier settlers. He... Read More	Dr. George E. Ulbrick, 92, of Hooper died Wednesday, Aug. 4, 2010, at Hooper Care Center in Hooper after several years of declining health. He was born Feb. 11, 1918, on the family farm in southern Otoe County. He was the youngest of the nine children of Alfred W. and Wilhelmina Neubauer Ulbrick and a descendant of Peter Ulbrick, one of Nebraska's early frontier settlers. He was a 1936 graduate of Nebraska City High School and received his B.A. from Nebraska State Teacher's College at Kearney (UNK) and his D.D.S. from the University of Nebraska School of Dentistry in 1948. He practiced dentistry in Dodge County for more than 35 years and was an enthusiastic breeder of cattle and sheep. He served in the U.S. Navy during WW II and re-entered active military service in the U.S. Air Force from 1955-1957, being assigned to Kindley AFB Bermuda and Offutt AFB, Omaha. He married Dorothy H. Schole of Hooper in 1944. They enjoyed more than 64 years together until her death in 2008. Dr. Ulbrick practiced general dentistry in Hooper for many years before moving his office to Fremont where he worked until his retirement in 1983. Although his adult patients would probably disagree, he always maintained that his greatest professional joy was providing dental care for children. Upon retirement, he was able to return to his farming roots, devoting much of his time for the next 20 years to the breeding of Angus cattle and Suffolk sheep on his farm south of Hooper, where he also promoted native grass pastures and conservation tree plantings. He was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Hooper. Survivors include: three children, Martha L. (and husband, Rhanor) Gillette of Urbana, Ill., Mary Lou (and husband, Lawrence) Hultgren of Virginia Beach, Va. and son, George W. (and wife, Elizabeth) Ulbrick of Lawrence, Kan.; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Memorial services will be announced at a later date. Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont is in charge of arrangements.
