Wilson, at Emmorton at an early hour on Saturday morning. He was 83 years of age and has spent all his later life in Harford county. For some time he had been in poor health, but the immediate cause of his death was heart failure. Dr. Archer was the son of the late Dr. Robert H. and Mary Stump Archer. One of the best known physicians in his part of the state. Dr. George W. Archer, before his retirement was himself a well known physician and surgeon. Not long ago he was elected a member of the Society of Men of Mark of America. In his sunset years he had devoted his time to preparing a history of Harford county, and had gathered together much interesting data. Unfortunately he was not able to put this into shape for publication, but it is sincerely hoped that his notes will form a valuable foundation, which will give some other local historians opportunity of completing. Dr. George W. Archer served in the Civil war as surgeon in Stonewall Jackson's brigade, in the Confederate Army. He never married, and was the last of his family. His funeral took place on Tuesday. The interment was in the Churchville Presbyterian cemetery, Rev. S.C. Wasson officiated. The pallbearers were David J. Wilson, Glasgow Archer, R. Harris Archer, Fred R. Williams, J. Plowman and George Lyle. C. E. Hornberger was the undertaker.
