Below is an enhanced version of his bio. ___________________________________________________ Birth and Parents Guy Campbell was born March 15, 1886 in Melrose, Stearns County, Minnesota. He is the son of Dr. Joseph E. and Alice (Steward) Campbell. His father, Dr Joseph E Campbell, was born in Brooklyn, NY on June 16, 1852, the son of Scotch parents and his birth occurring soon after they immigrated to the US. Dr G E Campbell's mother, Alice C Steward, was the daughter of George and Marinda (Bennett) Steward who migrated from Vermont to Wisconsin, then to Stearns County in central Minnesota. The family homesteaded on land approximately 3 miles west of the village of Melrose, Minn. Alice was born January 5, 1859 in Wisconsin. She lived her married life in Melrose until she died on May 23, 1906 in Melrose, Minn; the city of her burial as well. Siblings Dr. J E and Alice Campbell are the parents of eight children: Maude M. (Mrs. William E. Angus, Hannaford, ND); Lois I. (Mrs. William Kay, Melrose); Belva L. (Mrs. Charles J. Powell, Chicago); Edith B. (Mrs. Ernest W Henderson, Fargo, ND); Dr. Claude M. Campbell (he would died of disease during WW I); Dr. Guy E. Campbell (Plentywood, MT); Keen S Campbell (Oregon) and the youngest child, Lucille (she died in April 1914, just one month after she was wed to William Atkinson.) Education Guy E. Campbell graduated from Melrose High School, spent four years at Northwestern University of Chicago and in 1914 he graduated from the medical department of Tulane University at New Orleans, LA. Dr. G E Campbell came to Plentywood, Sheridan County, Mont and opened an office. He was made examining physician for the Selective Service of Sheridan County, and was a physician for the poor of the county. Marriage and Family On November 10, 1915, Guy E Campbell married Miss Helen M Collins, the daughter of Thomas F. Collins, in Barnesville, Minn. (Clay County Marriage License: 000K-441) Helen (Collins) Campbell completed her training to be a nurse at St. Mary's in Fargo, ND, and followed the profession for three years. Children The children of Dr. Guy and Helen Campbell are: Guy Edward Campbell, Jr., Claude Thomas Campbell and Helen Campbell. On August 16, 1946,, the Melrose Beacon, Melrose, Minnesota; published a local notice that Guy E Campbell Jr - son of Dr. Guy and Helen, was visiting friends in Melrose on his way to Fort Benning, GA for training in the US Army. The local notice states that Dr. Guy and Helen lived in Bottinea, ND. The same newspaper notice states that son, Claude Thomas Campbell, was killed in action in Europe on January 3, 1945.
