Dr. will you do all you can. I should like very much to be with you, if that is possible. can you give me a position. If not a first choice [,] one I am willing to put up with [,] any you can give me or get me. Anything to screen me from the exposure of strong light & dust. Which you are aware I can't endure on account of my eyes. Permit me to congratulate you upon your success & the honors confered [sic- conferred] upon you, as surgeon. My best wishes are with you & my whole heart is with the south in her noble stand for Independence, and let me assure you I am willing to serve my country in any capacity I may be able. The event is held every year on the anniversary of the marriage of Dr. H. M. Keyser, grandfather of R. W. Keyser. Dr. Keyser, his wife, and his son, William Keyser, former Commonwealth's attorney of Page County, are dead, but the event sponsored during their lifetime continues from year to year at the home of one of the grandchildren. A series of dinners will be given this week in their honor." [Richmond Times Dispatch, Richmond, Virginia, May 29, 1932.] Note: "The Keyser family, so far as authentic records show, originated in Bavaria in the fifteenth century., and on account of religious persecution in that country fled to Holland about the year 1550. From Holland a member of the family, Dirck Keyser, came to America settling at what is now Germantown, Pa. Descendants of Dirck Keyser later came to Virginia, one of them settling in the northern end of what is now Page County. From this Dirck Keyser, Dr. H. M. Keyser was [a] descendant."
