Read More	DR H N SLOAN IS LAID TO REST Prominent Physician Served in Confederate War Greenwood, Dec 26 [1931] - Dr Henry North Sloan, 82, long a prominent citizen and physician, died at his home in Ninety-Six last night. He had been in declining health for several years. Doctor Sloan was a native of Pendleton, the son of John Trimmier Sloan and Eliza Benson. His father was clerk of the famous Wallace House in 1876 and a brother, John Trimmier Sloan, Jr, was at one time lieutenant governor and prominent member of the Columbia bar. Doctor Sloan was a student at The Arsenal, Columbia, a state military school, and entered the service of the Confederacy from that institution. He was graduated from the South Carolina Medical College, then located in Columbia, in 1868 and was assistant physician at the State hospital four years before locating in the Ninety-Six community in 1873 and was in active practice until his retirement about 15 years ago. He was an active participant in the Red Shirt campaign and took an active part in every movement for the upbuilding and development of the state. Doctor Sloan is survived by his widow, who was Miss Ella Townsend; three sons, Hal T Sloan and John B Sloan of Ninety-Six, and Gasby P Sloan of Washington, DC; one daughter, Mrs Lease Wyman of Aiken; one brother, Bernard Cleveland Sloan of Schenectady, NY. The funeral services were conducted at the Ninety-Six Presbyterian church this afternoon by his pastor, the Rev W S Porter. Interment followed in the church cemetery. Dec 27, 1931 p6, The State
