Barker, 1314 Lincoln way, who with his wife have been spending the winter in the south, is seriously ill in the Veterans hospital at Biloxi, Miss. Dr. Barker joined the Veterans’ hospital staff in 1938 as chief of staff, coming from the Veterans hospital in Bath, N. Y., and served as an acting assistant secretary, in that capacity until his retirement in December 1944. Born in Van Buren county, la. March 16, 1875, he attended Southern Iowa Normal and received his medical degree from the University of Iowa in 1900.
