L. Sweeney, which occurred Monday morning at his home in Greenwood, Mo. The body is expected here today for burial. Dr. Sweeney lived in Shelbyville for many years, where he practiced medicine and conducted a drug store. He moved from here to Bowling Green and four years ago located at Greensburg where he has since resided. A trip to Colorado a short time ago failed to benefit his health and he had been confined to bed since his return from the West. Death was due to a complication of diseases. He was twice married. His first wife, who was Miss Dora Carper, died in 1893. To this union two children were born, a daughter and a son. The daughter, Mrs. A. J. Newman, lived in Maryland. The son, Shelby, died about three years ago. Deceased is survived by his second wife, who was Miss Ida Forman, and three children, one daughter and two sons: Mrs. Elmer Davis, of Hew Hartford, Mo., Harold L. Sweeney, of Kansas City, and Pat A Sweeney at home. Funeral services will be held at the Presbyterian church today, (Wednesday) at 3 p.m., conducted by Rev. Albert Halliwell. Burial will be in the I.O.O.F. cemetery. The Shelby County Herald Shelbyville, Missouri September 26, 1923 ~~~~~~~ PHYSICIAN BURIED HERE Funeral services for Dr. John L. Sweeney, who died Sept. 24 at his home in Greenwood, Mo., as stated in last week's Herald, were held here last Wednesday afternoon at 3 o'clock at the Presbyterian church, conducted by Rev. Albert Halliwell. Burial was in the I.O.O.F. cemetery. Dr. Sweeney was born at Red Sulphur Springs, West Va., November 18, 1853, and was in his 70th year.
